2. Preparation: What you need

Before you start running at the speed of sound, make sure you have everything ready. Here's your toolkit:

  • Drawing paper: White A4 sheets of paper or your favorite sketchbook.
  • Pencil: Preferably HB to make smooth strokes that can be erased.
  • Eraser: Iessential for correcting and cleaning the sketch.
  • Liner: A fine-tipped black marker or a black gel pen for the final outline.
  • Coloring materials: Wooden pencils, markers, crayons or watercolors (whatever you like best!).

3. Step-by-step drawing guide

We're going to divide Sonic in simple parts. Don't worry about the details at first, focus on the overall shapes.

Step 1: The Head and Hat: Start by drawing a large circle for the head. Instead of drawing his typical hedgehog quills on top, draw the droopy shape of Santa's hat covering the top. Don't forget to draw the round tassel (pom-pom) at the end of the hat.

Step 2: The face of Sonic Inside the circle for the head, draw the shape of his eyes (which look like a pair of goggles joined together). Draw two elongated ovals for the pupils, a small, round nose, and his classic confident smile. Add the triangular ears peeking out from under the hat.

Step 3: The Body and Christmas Outfit: Below the head, draw a small body. Instead of his normal body, draw him wearing a Santa jacket. Draw the "plush" or white wool details on the collar and the bottom edge of the jacket. Also draw the belt with a square buckle in the center.

Step 4: Fast arms and legs Sonic He's running, so posture is important:

  • Arms: Draw one arm extended backward (holding the sack) and the other forward. Remember to draw his gloves big and thick.
  • Legs: Draw one leg bent upwards and the other stretched forward in a step. Draw his famous slippers, but add a gold buckle to give them a Christmas elf touch.

Step 5: The big sack of gifts Behind SonicDraw a huge, irregular shape (like a giant potato) that will be the sack. On the top of the (open) sack, draw several square and rectangular boxes with ribbons to represent the gifts peeking out.

Step 6: Inking: Once you have your pencil sketch and are happy with it, take your black marker. Carefully go over all the main lines. When the ink is dry, gently erase all the pencil underneath to leave a clean drawing.

5. Tricks to draw better

  • Draw softly: When using the pencil, don't press too hard. That way, if you make a mistake, it will be very easy to erase without leaving marks on the paper.
  • Observe the shapes: Don't look at “Sonic"As a whole, look at geometric shapes. The sack is a misshapen circle, the gifts are squares, the nose is an oval."
  • Patience: If the gifts in the sack seem difficult, just draw one or two big ones. It's your drawing, and you decide!
